Mr. G's Keys, located in Standale/Walker, is a locally-owned locksmith and key shop serving the greater Grand Rapids area since 2010. Each store technician is personally trained to provide top quality service to our valued customers. We make it our business to provide timely and reliable service; in fact, more than just a business model, we consider it a personal responsibility to our customers.

THE POSITION

Service Technician

Full-Time 

Entry Level

We are currently accepting applications for a part-time Service Technician position with the potential to expand into a full-time role. Applicants should be friendly and attentive to customers, have a strong work ethic and reliable transportation, and should be able to work a varying schedule. Consider applying if you: have a background or interest in locksmith, watch, or related work, enjoy the challenge of picking up new skills, or have an interest in starting on the path to a unique career in the locksmith or watchwork industries!

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow procedure to properly identify and duplicate keys

  • Accurate counting and organizing of stock and inventory

  • Service watches (light repairs and battery changes)

  • Program transponder keys and car remotes

  • Assist locksmith with various duties as needed

BASE REQUIREMENTS

  • Reliable transportation

  • 18+ years of age

  • Flexible availability

  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate

  • 3+ reliable references

 DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Handiness with common tools

  • Background or interest in watchwork and/or locksmithing

  • Proven organizational and time-management skills

  • Interest in an expanding role with a small business

  • Prior experience in a small retail or similar setting

DETAILS

Some experience in retail, small business, hardware or a similar setting is helpful, but not necessary. Day-to-day activities will include opening and closing register, greeting and interacting with customers, conducting sales on an electronic register, as well as cleaning and maintaining store and equipment.

 

All candidates will be personally trained for a period of 90 days after date of hire to ensure that they are knowledgeable in their duties. Starting pay is based on experience and potential and will fall between $9-12 an hour.
